Event 44 - CANCELLED
Writers cut loose along Auckland’s Karangahape Rd and upper Queen St in the Festival’s fourth Friday night ‘of the streets’ fiesta – songs, ghosts, tattoos, typewriters and more as inspiration abounds. Overlooking the Symonds St Cemetery, the Anna Miles Gallery plays host to readings from the realms of the dead; a room of typewriters at Millers Coffee await your short fictions (with prizes to be won); tales of tattoos etched on writer bodies reveal themselves at Otautahi Tattoo; objects dear to queers are the subject of reflection at Neck of the Woods; stories and songs of protest emanate from Amnesty Internationals’ walls, whilst a playlist of writer inspirations ring out at Real Groovy Records; and opening lines from great NZ books, disguised as eye charts, adorn the windows of Campbell & Campbell Optometrist. Sate your curiosity and join the extraordinary line-up of Michele A’Court, Melani Anae, Jenny Bornholdt, Sam Brooks, Ron Brownson, Geoff Chapple, Mike Chunn, Sandra Coney, Joanne Drayton, Michelle Elvy, Emma Espiner, Reb Fountain, Patrick Gale, Julie Glamuzina, Tui Gordon, Hadassah Grace, Siobhan Harvey, Dominic Hoey, Stephanie Johnson, Paul Kalburgi, Anne Kennedy, Huriana Kopeke-Te Aho, Elizabeth Kirkby-McLeod, Fardowsa Mohamed, Becky Manawatu, Moana Maniapoto, Alison Mau, Gregory Minissale, Annette Morehu, Toby Morris, Pamela Morrow, Ian Mune for Ian Rockel, Joni Nelson, Greg O’Brien, Sam Orchard, Ruby Porter, Rebecca Priestley, essa may ranapiri, Tom Sainsbury, Leanne Shapton, Ruby Mae Hinepunui Solly, Michael Steven, Philippa Swan, Jason Te Mete, Rhydian Thomas, Tulia Thompson, Frances Tipene, Anthonie Tonnon, Steven Toussaint, Oscar Upperton, Toyah Webb, Lani Wendt Young, Damien Wilkins in 15-minute showcases in intimate venues designed to invigorate your reading, your weekend, your life.
