IN THE WILD: MIRIAM LANCEWOOD
Living outside the mainstream is a dream for many but Dutch-born Miriam Lancewood made it a reality, and how. Woman in the Wilderness recounts her six years living off grid in the wilderness of the South Island with her partner Peter. She hunted; he cooked. Before Lancewood opted out she practised with a bow and arrow for a year. Once in the wild she learned how to make garments from possums, and wash her hair with her own urine to combat dandruff. Lancewood speaks with Te Radar about the consolations of a simple life.
