A GROWN UP STORY: LEIGH BARDUGO
In the fall of 2019, Leigh Bardugo’s dark fantasy Ninth House took the world by storm, racking up multiple starred reviews and garnering praise from authors like Lev Grossman, Joe Hill, and Charlaine Harris. Stephen King is also a fan, describing it as "the best fantasy novel I've read in years… impossible to put down." Set among Yale University’s elite secret societies, Ninth House is a murder mystery, a ghost story, and a timely exploration of the use and abuse of power. Bardugo is also the creator of the Grishaverse (coming soon to Netflix) and a longtime fan of fantasy, science fiction, and horror. She talks about her move into the adult world, and the genre which taught her as a troubled teenager that “being clever, brave, and dangerous mattered more than being cheerful and cute.” Chaired by Sarah Lang.
